An artist with a true sense of humor, Mister Tucks' work is a mishmash of vintage skateboard graphics from the late 80s with Low-So and Ukiyo-e art. . He is inspired by Chinese and Japanese mythology and landscape imagery, and being a skater himself, combines those with common skateboarding references.
A note from the artist:
Immigrants often flee or move to different countries hoping to lead better lives. However this price for freedom can be high. In 2017, the United Nations migration agency estimated more than 3100 migrants died while trying to cross the Mediterranean - a large number attributed to poor quality vessels. Is freedom worth the risk? In pondering over this question, spot the person(s) hiding within the Chinese characters that spell 'immigrant'.
